77,400 Housing Units Approved Nationwide
Speaking recently, the minister confirmed that 100 housing units will be constructed in each of the 774 LGAs, making up the total of 77,400 homes. These homes are part of the government’s large-scale strategy to bridge Nigeria’s massive housing deficit.
Additionally, 3,000 new homes will be constructed in each of Lagos, Abuja, and Kano, forming the core of the Renewed Hope Cities project. A further 250 housing units will be developed in every state for the Renewed Hope Estates.
30% of Housing Reserved for Vulnerable Nigerians
The minister emphasized that 30 per cent of the 77,400 homes will be allocated to non-income Nigerians, ensuring that the most vulnerable have access to secure housing. He praised President Tinubu for upholding this 30% allocation, even when a 20% offer was proposed.
Strategic Partnerships in the Works
During a meeting with international investors, the government expressed openness to external collaborations. “We are open to partnerships with companies like Ms Allen Le and Partners International Investment Consulting Joint Company, but we need specific proposals,” said Ata.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Shuaib Belgore, backed the initiative and assured investors of the Ministry’s support in fast-tracking approvals and project execution.
International Delegation Eyes Affordable Housing
The visiting team, led by Allen Ke Nam of SV-NED Incorporated, requested land allocations to kickstart the development of affordable housing. According to Nam, “The collaboration will boost local job creation and introduce new building technologies for faster, more efficient construction.”
Nam also highlighted the long-term benefits of the project including skills development, technology transfer, and economic stimulation at the grassroots level.
Focus on Urban and Rural Development
This housing plan is set to touch both urban and rural communities, offering a rare opportunity for wide-reaching development. From mega cities like Abuja to the smallest rural LGAs, the government aims to create modern, decent living spaces for all.
This is a big step toward fixing the housing problem in Nigeria. With houses planned in every LGA and extra focus on helping those without income, this project could make a real difference.
The Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a slogan anymore—it’s now turning into real buildings for real people. The days ahead could bring hope and shelter to thousands of Nigerians.
