Ola Asked: Is My Old NIYEEDEP Application Still Valid for the New YEIDEP Disbursement? Here’s the Full Answer
Recently, one of our readers, Ola, reached out with an important question:
“I have applied through the old NIYEEDEP portal. Is it valid for the upcoming disbursement, or do I need to reapply on the new YEIDEP portal?”
We received many similar questions from others too, especially through DMs, and not everyone could get a reply. So, we’re sharing this clear answer for everyone, based on the latest official updates.
NIYEEDEP and YEIDEP – Are They Different?
No, they are not different. NIYEEDEP and YEIDEP are the same program. The program has simply changed its name from NIYEEDEP to YEIDEP. So, if you applied through the old NIYEEDEP portal, your application is still valid and relevant, but there is one condition.
When Is the Old NIYEEDEP Application Valid?
Your old NIYEEDEP application is valid only if you completed it successfully. That means:
- You used the code to open a bank account with one of the YEIDEP partner banks.
- You received the code either by SMS or email, and used it for verification.
If you never received a code, or you lost the code and didn’t open an account, your application is incomplete. In that case, you should reapply using the new YEIDEP portal.
Can You Apply Again?
If you’re applying on the new portal yeidep.org:
- You won’t receive any code.
- One of the YEIDEP banks will contact you a few days after your application to help open an account.
- You can only submit once. If you’re seeing an error, you have likely submitted before—maybe without knowing.
What If Two Banks Contact You?
If you already opened a YEIDEP bank account and another participating bank also contacts you, it’s okay. Banks are competing for your registration, but you only need one YEIDEP account to receive funds.
Final Advice
Ola, since NIYEEDEP and YEIDEP are the same, your old application is fine only if you completed it with a bank account using your code. If not, please reapply on the new portal. This advice also goes to anyone in the same situation. Better safe than sorry!
