Lagos State has moved fast. As of April 2025, over 130,000 households have been enrolled for the Federal Government’s ₦75,000 conditional cash transfer. This new payment is meant to support families badly affected by Nigeria’s economic changes like fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate reforms.
This big update was shared by Ope George, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, at a media meeting held on Tuesday in Alausa, Ikeja.
According to him, the data of the 130,000 households has been successfully added to the Lagos State Single Social Register, which is part of Nigeria’s national record system for government support programs.
What’s Happening With the ₦75,000 Cash Payment?
The cash grant program is being led by the Presidential Panel for Economic Relief, and only people whose information is fully updated — including their National Identification Number (NIN) and location details — will be able to receive the cash support.
The data update exercise started on April 9, 2025, and is ongoing across all 57 local governments and LCDAs in Lagos.
Ope George confirmed this is a must-do step:
“The Federal Government has said that every beneficiary must have a valid NIN and their updated details. This is to stop fraud and make sure the money reaches real people who need it.”
Which Areas Got the Highest Numbers?
The data shows that the work is already moving fast, with three areas leading in the number of households added:
Area | Households Enrolled |
---|---|
Ikorodu | 16,418 |
Alimosho | 14,964 |
Mushin | 10,712 |
These three LGAs alone make up a big part of the total 130,000 added so far.
Why Is This ₦75,000 Program Important?
This conditional cash transfer will be paid in parts to each selected household. It is designed to reduce the pressure from new policies like:
- Fuel subsidy removal
- Increased transport and food costs
- High inflation
- Job losses in some sectors
Lagos officials said that the goal is to help families get through this hard time by giving them some direct money support.
Is Registration Still Going On?
Yes. The Commissioner made it clear that the Lagos State Operation Coordinating Unit and other teams are still updating the list. If your household is not yet added, there is still a chance.
New households are being added daily, especially in underserved areas.
Who Can Receive the ₦75,000?
To qualify, here’s what you need:
- Your household must already be in the National Social Register
- You must update your NIN
- You need to provide your house location
- You must belong to the low-income category
Once these are confirmed, the payment will be sent to your account in stages.
What Should Residents Do Next?
Residents are advised to stay in touch with their community leaders and local officials for any updates. Also, make sure your NIN and address are correct.
George added:
“We want to make sure no one is left out. We will keep adding new families and supporting them as more relief packages come in.”
The ₦75,000 cash transfer is real. Lagos is leading the way by quickly enrolling families who need it the most. If you live in Lagos and your household struggles with daily costs, now is the time to check if you’re on the list.
Keep your NIN ready. Follow local instructions. And stay updated, because more help could be coming your way soon.
