Apply Now: WomenPower2030 Seed Grant 2025 For Nigeria and Seirra Leone (up to €5,000 each)

The Women Environmental Programme (WEP) is now accepting proposals from women-led groups and women’s rights organizations to help achieve the goal of WomenPower2030: Feminist Accelerate Actions for Sustainable Development. This program supports the leadership, participation, and rights of women, girls, and marginalized people in the context of sustainable growth.

The main goal is to strengthen the role and voice of feminist and women’s civil society groups in shaping, planning, and implementing policies and actions focused on climate justice and sustainable development—at national, regional, and international levels.

WomenPower2030 is part of a Financial Framework Partnership Agreement (FFPA) with support from the European Union. It is led by Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF), with four other members:

  • Women Environmental Programme (WEP)
  • African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET)
  • Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD)
  • Fundacion Para Estudio E Investigacion de la Mujer (FEIM)

1. Focus Areas for Grants

Selected organizations are expected to use this seed funding to carry out meaningful actions that directly support the aims of WomenPower2030. Projects should focus on one or more of the following areas:

  • Policy tracking and advocacy with government leaders
  • Education and public awareness on gender or sustainability issues
  • Organizing or strengthening women’s rights movements
  • Creating practical and fair solutions or services for communities
  • Leadership development and gender-based training programs
  • Monitoring and analyzing budgets, policies, and SDG or climate goals
  • Public outreach via social media or traditional media platforms

⚠️ Note: Proposals that are based only on workshops or awareness raising will not be accepted. Strong preference will be given to those that aim to shape policy, offer practical solutions, or promote inclusive budget practices.

2. Who Is Eligible?

Applicants must meet all of the following:

  • Be a women-led or women-focused organization
  • Have at least 70% women in leadership or management positions
  • Be a part of GAME (Gender Advocacy Movement for the Environment) or any women’s rights coalition at national, regional, or international level
  • Be legally registered and based in Nigeria or Sierra Leone
  • Have a good record of project implementation
  • No past conviction of criminal or fraudulent activities

3. Project Timeline

  • Projects must be planned to last between 3 to 6 months

4. Grant Amount

  • Each selected organization will receive up to €5,000

5. Application Language

  • All applications must be completed in English
